A teacher and mentor throughout my school career

Although she was my piano teacher for only five years, Ms. Resila has continued to be a teacher and mentor throughout my school career. Her talents exceed her ability to play the piano, and even her understanding of music as a whole. Ms. Resila forms a strong and positive bond with both her students and her families, which is unique to each one. As a junior in high school, I took a college-level course called “AP Music Theory”. Being a college-level class, it was incredibly difficult. However, the fact that Ms. Resila goes above and beyond in her lessons through in-depth, yet succinct and clear explanations of not just the piece you’re working on, but the notes and movement behind it as well helped mitigate the confusion, and only led to success in the class. Ms. Resila has a way to keep the attention of her students without having to yell or punish, and always speaks with tones of caringness and understanding. I believe that Ms. Resila will always be a part of my life, and I am very fortunate to have had her as a lifelong teacher and friend. Ian S.
